IMPRINTED CONCRETE PATIO
Transform dull grey concrete into a show-stopping feature with pattern-imprinted (stamped) concrete. We pour a single, seamless slab, infuse it with integral colour, and press realistic stone, brick or custom motifs before it cures—delivering the beauty of paving with the strength of reinforced concrete.
Why Choose an Imprinted Concrete Patio?
- Design freedom: 30 + mould patterns—Ashlar Slate, London Cobble, Herringbone Brick, even bespoke compass roses.
- Huge colour palette: Integral dyes, combined with surface hardeners, create a range of colours from warm terracotta to cool granite greys.
- Weed-resistant: One solid slab = no joints for moss or weeds to colonise
- Fast installation: Large areas poured in a day; patterning and sealing on day two—less disruption than modular paving.
- Durability: 300 kg/m³ cement content and fibre reinforcement withstand heavy furniture and Ireland’s freeze-thaw cycles
- Low lifetime cost: Only a reseal every 2-5 years; no sinking blocks to relay
Typical Colours & Patterns Popular in Dublin

Our Installation Process for Imprinted Patios
- Site Prep & Base:
Old surface removed, area excavated, and a solid hardcore sub-base compacted for stability. - Pour & Colour:
A single slab of high-strength concrete is poured, coloured on site with your chosen integral dye. - Stamping the Pattern:
While the concrete is still workable, release powder is applied and your selected pattern mats are pressed in. - Cure & Seal:
The slab cures, control joints are cut to prevent random cracks, then a protective sealer is applied for colour depth and weather resistance.
That’s it—usually completed in just two working days for an average-sized patio.
Care & Maintenance ofYour Imprinted Surface
- An annual hose-down, plus a soft-bristle scrub, keeps algae away.
- Reseal every 3–5 years (lighter colours may stretch to 5; dark charcoals look best at 3).
- Avoid de-icing salts in the first winter; use coarse sand instead.
- Handle spills quickly: if cooking oil, BBQ grease, or fuel drips onto the surface, blot and rinse it immediately so it can’t soak in and leave a stain.

After researching for a while, I chose Patio Paving (Driveway Paving) as Tony was quick to respond to my enquiry and answered all my questions and concerns. His quote was very reasonable for the amount of work required. He was also able to fit my job in quickly. His team showed up on time and worked so hard the job was done in under two days. They explained everything, were friendly and polite. The finished job was superb and they cleaned and tidied up afterwards. I cannot recommend them enough.+0Posted on Google

After being told we would have to wait for at least six weeks to have a patio installed, the job taking a week to do, and having been quoted an extortionate amount of money for the privilege, we had a look around, and thanks to Microsoft Copilot and Google Maps reviews, we decided to give Tony a call. I called Tony on a Wednesday and by the following Wednesday, we already had our new patio. The lads arrived at 7:30 am and were finished by 4 pm on the same day. The service was second-to-none. I can't fault anything. The team were very friendly and efficient. Tony was very responsive. The price for the patio was very reasonable. The new patio installation has transformed our back garden. We are extremely happy with the level of work carried out by the five-man team. Thanks for everything, lads.+1Posted on Google

We had Tonys' lads out to install another 100m² of granite slabs & cobble sets. They did a fantastic job, yet again. They are a pleasure to work with, efficient, hard working & always willing to adapt plans as work progresses. I highly recommend this company for all your driveway & patio needs.+2

FAQs About Imprinted Concrete Patios in Dublin
1. How long does an imprinted concrete patio take to install?
Most 40 m² patios are complete in two working days — day 1 for pouring and stamping, day 2 for cutting joints and sealing. Very large or multi-colour jobs may need a third day for detailing.
2. How much does an imprinted concrete patio cost?
Expect €90 – €130 per m², fully installed and sealed. The price depends on pattern complexity, number of colours and site access. A fixed quote follows our free survey.
3. Will the pattern wear off?
No—the pattern is pressed 5 mm deep into the slab, not surface-printed. A coloured surface hardener bonds to the top layer of concrete, so normal foot traffic won’t wear it away.
4. Does imprinted concrete crack?
Any concrete can crack as it shrinks, so we cut control joints every 2–3 metres to channel that movement where it’s barely noticeable. With a proper sub-base and mesh reinforcement, random cracks are rare.
5. Is imprinted concrete slippery when wet?
The stamped texture can trap water, so the surface may be slick if left un-treated. We pour the slab with a gentle fall for drainage, add fine anti-slip grit to the sealer, and offer a high-grip matte finish for shaded or pool-side areas. With these steps the patio meets Irish slip-resistance standards even after rain.
6. What are the disadvantages of concrete imprints?
• Repairs are tricky: a patch rarely matches the original
• Resealing needed: colour stays vibrant only if resealed every 2–5 years
• Can be slippery: moisture sits in the pattern without anti-slip grit
• Initial curing time: avoid heavy loads for 5–7 days after install.
7. Is imprinted concrete cheaper than paving?
Yes—imprinted concrete usually sits between basic block paving and natural stone on price. At €90–€130 /m² it’s often 10–20 % less than sandstone and far below porcelain, while giving a premium look without individual slabs to lay.
8. How long does imprinted concrete last?
With the correct sub-base and regular resealing, a stamped concrete patio will last 25–30 years before any major refurbishment is needed. Colour remains vibrant as long as the sealer is maintained.
